Know About Us

Cano/Gonzalez Elementary is located in Edinburg, Texas.  It was established in 1995 and was named after two veterans, Pedro Cano and Julian Gonzalez.  Both men were highly decorated veterans who valiantly served their country during World War II, and were awarded many honors and when they returned home.  They both received the Distinguished Service Cross, this medal was awarded for a distinguished act of heroism that involved exceptional risk of life. On March 18, 2014, Pedro Cano's Distinguished Service Cross was upgraded to Medal of Honor posthumously.

National Custodian's Day

Our custodians, Julia Pena and Tony Lara have done an outstanding job of multitasking with all that is necessary to keep our staff and students safe during this pandemic. Our heartfelt appreciation to both of you!

Students Celebrate Mad Hatter Day

Mrs. Garcia's 4th grade students celebrated Mat Hatter Day on 10/6. October 6th matches the label tucked in the Mad Hatter’s hat band that reads “In this style 10/6.” The Mad Hatter is a character in Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll.
